That's The Way It Is by Celine Dion: My Favorite Song All The Time

 

I am a music enthusiast. Since childhood, my parents introduced various types of music like pop, rock, dangdut, and traditional music. Music for me an important part of my daily life.

When I was in high school, one of the programs I looked forward to was MTV (Music Television) shows such as MTV Most Wanted, MTV Asia Hit List, MTV Ampuh, and MTV Land. During that period, many talented singers came out. There are Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Beyonce, Westlife, Alanis Morrisette, Shania Twain, and others. Many Indonesian singers also appeared on MTV and are still known today. There are Agnes Monica, Krisdayanti, Rossa, Noah, Dewa 19, Sheila On 7, Titi DJ, and others. I watched MTV shows on television to watch music videos from my favorite singer. Dissimilar now which can be accessed music video via YouTube or streaming using an internet provider. At that period the internet already existed but access was not as easy as it is now. The connection is not as fast as internet fixed broadband which makes it easy to, download online entertainment.

One of my favorite singers is Celine Dion. I have known Celine Dion since 1997 when Celine released the song My Heart Will Go On. This song is the original soundtrack of the movie Titanic. Many of Celine Dion’s songs are hits but there is one song that inspires me. The song is titled “That’s the Way It Is”.

That's The Way It Is is on the album A Decade of Song, which was released in 1999. This album is a temporary farewell album of Celine Dion to the music world. I also have this album in the form of a cassette. Now to listen to Celine’s songs, I only stream on music channels through my internet provider.

My daily life, almost every day I wait for the music video for That’s The Way It Is song to appear on my favorite music show on television. Every time I came home from school, I watched MTV Most Wanted and waited for Celine’s song to be requested.

The song That’s The Way It Is was number one on the MTV Asia Hit List chart. This song describes life so as not to give up easily to get true love. This song was composed by Max Martin and Andreas Carlsson. Max Martin is a famous composer in the USA who also wrote several songs for Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, and Backstreet Boys.

In 2002, when I graduated from high school. I feel down because of my horrible test scores. Even though I graduated, it was sad for me. I’m worried that I won’t be able to go to college. I was down for a week and the song That’s The Way It Is brought me back up. One of the lyrics in the song that always reminds me, “Don’t surrender ‘cause you can win….” makes me understand this life. It’s only part of the journey of my life.

My Daily Life is recovered. I started taking exams to pass into college. In the past, I had to study through notebooks. Nowadays, many people learn through Google or online classes using internet provider. Everything is fast-paced with an internet fixed broadband connection.

Before the internet was as easy to access as now, to get the lyrics of a song usually I have to buy albums or buy magazines that contain song lyrics. And it became part of my daily life.
